Yvonne Beatty’s work is influenced by the vibrant line and sumptuous color of Japanese woodblock prints and by the delicacy of Persian miniature paintings. She applies traditional and contemporary media using unconventional techniques. Yvonne believes the challenge is to create works that, while static on the wall, gain movement in the viewer’s mind.
The work reflects Yvonne’s conviction that art is the exploration of that which exists in the breath between words, the gaps between paragraphs, the margins around the text – there is so much to say in those spaces and not enough words or images in all the world to get it right.
Yvonne Beatty received her MFA from Otis College of Art and Design.
